King's Pawn Openings

1.e4

One of the oldest and most popular openings. White stakes a claim in the center and opens lines for the King's Bishop and Queen. If White could move immediately, 2.d4 would be very strong, perhaps even a won game. But according to the rules, Black gets to move next.
