Closed Game

The Closed Game usually starts 1.d4 d5 2.c4 as in the diagram. This is better known as the Queen's Gambit. Black has three responses which have different characteristics.

  • 2...e6 : Queen's Gambit Declined
  • 2...c6 : Slav Defense
  • 2...dxc4 : Queen's Gambit Accepted
