How Chess Pawns Move

Pawns move one square at a time (with an option on their first move!)

After its first move, the Pawn can advance only one square at a time. The green circles show the only possible move for each Pawn. The Pawn can only advance if the square in front is empty.

  1. Pawns only move forward
  2. Pawns move one square at a time (with an option on their first move!)
  3. Pawns move and capture in different ways
  4. If Pawns can't capture, they can be blocked
