Have a specific question?

Before you send an email message, try one of the following resources. You'll get a faster answer than via email.

  • Check our FAQ
Here you'll find an index of all the questions on the different FAQs that have been developed for About Chess.
  • Post to our forum
Post your questions or comments and you'll get feedback from other chess fans just like yourself. The Chess Guide also checks the forum at least once a day. • If you have the time, check the forum for other messages on your topic. There are thousands of old messages and the forum has its own search. • If you want to submit a chess site for linking by About Chess, post it here. It won't be considered spam and won't be deleted. Even if the guide decides not to add your link to the main site, it will be seen.
  • Use the search function
The search is fast and accurate. If we have a page on your topic, it will appear in the results here.

Email Your Guide

Like all the Guides at About.com, your Chess Guide is a real person, not an autoresponder or some other kind of Internet robot. Unfortunately, he receives hundreds and hundreds of spam messages every day, doesn't have the time to open all of it, and has to select real messages from the few clues contained in the message title.

Follow these guidelines for the best results:

  • Don't leave the title of your message blank.
  • Don't use a title that says 'Hi', 'Hey there', or something similar. Spammers love these titles.
  • Do use a real chess phrase other than 'Chess question', 'New link', or something similar. Spammers assume that your guide's first name is 'Chess' (last name 'Guide'!) and address the titles of their messages accordingly. They also use unimaginative message titles that could refer to almost any subject.

Your guide loves to get real chess-related email, retrieves messages once a day, and replies to every serious message! If you don't get a response after a few days, send your message again. We'd hate to have it lost in the mounds of junk mail just because your guide blinked at the wrong time.

We're sincerely sorry that all of this advice is necessary just to ask a simple question. Blame the spammers!

Send mail to chess.guide@about.com.
