Queen

By Mark Weeks, About.com

Definition: A Queen is one of the six chess pieces. Each player has one Queen at the start of the game.

The Queen, with the combined moves of a Rook and a Bishop, is able to move along ranks, files, and diagonals, making it the most powerful piece on the board. A successful Queen sacrifice is always a spectacular move and is normally annotated '!!', a brilliant move.
