Harry Potter Chess

Friday July 13, 2007
The closely timed release of the fifth Harry Potter movie, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', with the publication of the seventh Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' means increased interest in Harry Potter chess sets. There are several types of Harry Potter sets on the market, so pay attention if you are shopping for a particular style.

Two sets that have been available since the release of the first Harry Potter movie are

  • Harry Potter Wizard Chess, and
  • Studio Anne Carlton Harry Potter Chess Set

The Wizard set looks like the giant game seen in the 'Sorcerer's Stone' movie. The 'Studio Anne Carlton' set is based on the design for the Lewis Sets: Photo and Compare Prices. Two more recent, upmarket sets are

  • Harry Potter Final Challenge Chess Set by Noble, and
  • Harry Potter Hogwarts House Quidditch Chess Set

The 'Final Challenge' set uses the same piece design as the 'Wizard Chess' set, while the 'Hogwarts House Quidditch' uses a different design. You can see both sets at Harry Potter - Chess Sets (WBshop.com).
