United States Chess League Begins 2008 Season

Tuesday August 19, 2008
If you love team chess as much as I do, you’ll want to check out the United States Chess League (USCL). Fourteen teams representing chess clubs from around the USA begin competing on August 25. The league includes two new teams this year: the Arizona Scorpions and the Chicago Blaze.

A quick glance at the list of players competing shows that at least 15 grandmasters and countless other titled players are participating, which should make for high-quality play. All USCL matches are played on the Internet Chess Club, but the players compete from the clubs they represent – each of which is open to anyone who wants to watch!

Last year’s champions, the Dallas Destiny, will be looking to defend their title, but they’ll have a lot of competition for the United States Chess League Championship. Who do you think will win the 2008 USCL title?
