The World Cup victory qualified the American for a match against GM Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria; World Champion 2005-2006). The 8-game match will take place near the end of 2008. In related news, FIDE announced details for a World Championship title match between GM Viswanathan Anand (India; current World Champion) and GM Vladimir Kramnik (Russia; World Champion 2006-2007). The 12-game match will take place October 2008, in Bonn, Germany. The winner will go on to defend the title against the winner of the Topalov - Kamsky match.
