Join the Discussion : Fun with YouTube

Chess isn't seen much on television, but the game is a perfect match for video. Some people use video clips to teach, while others use them to learn.

Hi Mark
I am doing some chess game annotations on youtube. I have a Fide rating of about 2160 and an ECF grading of 185.
I am today and yesterday doing some of the Fischer Spassky games. I am looking at some of your past comments on this match with a fine toothcombe, and I would like to point out a few things if I may. But before I do, here is my Youtube link:

I am you take take this feedback on your past article here, as constructive:-

I have not annotated all the key games yet, but in Game 5:
You say
“Fischer won the fifth game with a nice combination and the match was even. Spassky’s 2-0 lead had been erased”
I am sorry but White could have continued with Qb1 instead of Qc2. This was more of a blunder than a brilliant combination. Qc2 allowed Bxa4, but Qb1 and White could play on for quite some time.
In Game 8, b5 is not so much of a blunder - sacrificing the exchange as was 19…Nd7 allowing Nd5 - and black losing the e7 pawn and wrecks the pawn structure. The position had dynamic compensation for black before 19..Nd7.
Let me know if you want me to point out anything else I find.
Best wishes
Tryfon
