Chess 201 - Introduction to the Openings

Monday August 4, 2008
Looking for an easy way to learn more about the openings? See our new email course. Our goal is to get you through the first few moves successfully and to teach you something about the different positions that you'll encounter. The course is structured so that 10 minutes per day is sufficient, but there's plenty more material if you have the time. Read more...

P.S. The course is absolutely free, but if you want 'to try before you buy', it uses the same principles shown on A Structured Introduction to the Chess Openings.

Chess Fun on Flickr

Friday August 1, 2008

If you ever get bored playing chess, there are other chess-related diversions on the web. One of our favorites is browsing photos on Flickr, the Yahoo photo sharing service. There are so many good chess photos that it's hard to pick just one.

This one caught our attention because we have always liked vinyl rollup boards with green and cream colored squares. They are very easy on the eyes and don't interfere with the imagination. On top of that, the idea behind the photo is particularly clever.
